Default Damage by diesel in a petrol enigne?

Does anyone know if there would be any potential long terms problems of putting diesel in a petrol engine after it was fixed professionally?

I won a car on fleabay and the guy has told me he put diesel in it by mistake today (I pick it up Saturday) and it will cost him a fair bit to get fixed .... "talking about 2 x new catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, fuel filters, fuel pump and fuel injectors - at around £3000 + ..."

I was happy to go with the deal still as it was a bargain - but was concerned about any longer term issues this may cause to an engine. How the guy got the diesel nozzel in there the first place is a worry....

If you see invoice/speak to the garage to confirm they are liable for any consequence that they have not dealt with in the £3K bill, should be fine IMHO

did he start the car up after he put the diesel in ?

if not then it's just a tank drain and filter change.

Apparantly he was a few miles down the raod before it cut out - why such an expense to get it sorted.

walk away!

There'll be other bargains on ebay.

...if it was too good to be true in the first place I'd start to be worried.

..how could he get a diesel nosel into a petrol tank anyways?

There's something fishy in Denmark.

This isn''t the car you're looking for, you can go about your business. Move along, move along.

I'll see if I can call the garage when its getting fixed. The only thing fishy in denmark is the high extraordinary number of blondes. The car is in Southampton - which is also fishy I guess
