when im riding along my bars are quite alot more to the right than central. the only thing i can put it down to is lowering my tyre pressures.... could this cause the problem? the are currently set to track pressures..??

how can tyre prssure affect the bars? you do mean handle bars? slacken off the clamps that hold the bars in place and adjust acordenly |

Mine are like that as a result of an off about two years ago.
I have tried loosening off the clamps etc but as soon as they are tightened up again the twist comes bac; it seems to be the bottom clamp thats bent. The bike has been MOT'd twice since, thefirst time I even pointed it out to the tester, who said that as long as the wheels were in line it was no problem! TBH I am used to it and reckon I will have a bit of a problem when I change the bike for one thats not crooked ![]() |

Morning all.
Either you have a bent fork leg or bent handlebars, or your forks are twisted in the yokes. If they're bent you have a problem, but to untwist them loosen the steering stem nut slightly, & fully loosen the lower yoke pinch bolts. Then by placing the opposite to the direction the bars are going front edge of the tyre against a wall or some suitable immovable object, you should be able to realign the forks by applying pressure to the handlebars. Sometimes you have to give the tyre a gentle tap against the wall to get it all to move. You might have a bit of trial & error to get it right, as it's easy to go too far the other way. Mind your wheel rim & discs etc if you try it, & don't forget to do everything up before going on the road. Cheers. |
