Default Motorcyclist in need of assistance.

Hi,
I am a new rider last time I got on a bike was twenty years ago, however I was trying to remember the signal for motorcyclist needs assistance.

Am I correct in thinking this is placing the lid on the seat?

Many Thanks.
Martin.

I thought it was to place the lid on the floor behind the rear wheel

. . . and then stand around looking unhappy until someone stops

Correct to both, although I would point out, those days are somewhat behind us now, the motorcycling world is a very different place, as viney pointed out "call the AA" or some such is the norm, and not a lot of riders know thw ways of old

I think you perhaps stand as good a chance of getting someone to stop to give a hand, it's just they probably won't be able to do anything except phone up for you or give you a lift, once upon a time just about any biker could fix most stuff that wasn't terminal.

(god , does that make me feel old, or what )

Cheers Mark.

I agree with Mark.

If I see someone who looks in trouble I will stop - dont care about helmet placement etc....

Not much I can usually do though........

Take helmet off, take leathers off, take underwear off and place over head. Run up and down flapping arms and making deranged ferret noises.

I think that would indicate quite successfully that a biker would be in need of some help.

I'll get my coat.

Seriously though I did not know there was an offical sign for it. I just stop if and when I can if bike has stopped etc.

I usually just try to make eye contact. If I see someone stopped I usually give them the thumbs up as I go past.
