So as most of you know I did what Mr Squid said one should not do a few weeks ago and jumped off my bike to avoid going round a corner and hitting a tree. I'm almost repaired but my bike is not.
The assesor for the insurance company came round today, tuted a few times and said "Hmmmmm, I think this is going to be Uneconomical to Repair" How much is it worth?" I said oh about £3,500. Was that okay or too much? and If I want my bike back how do I go about buying it back from the insurance company. Do I make them and offer? how much should I offer to buy the bike back? What sort of time am i looking at from the Assesor writing the report to the insurance company replying Days or weeks or months? ( It's insured with Equity Red Star) Answers to any of the above would be greatley appreciated. |

Is the bike a total wreck Saeed? They give you a price to salvage the bike usually.

Saeed: I know how you feel bro, except it's the other way round. Bike's fine and dandy, I just can't bend my leg to get on it at the mo. As to your questions I don't know I'm afraid. Value seems about right to me, maybe a little high. Best to do that tho as they take the lowest figure from your value and the market value of the bike and pay you that. Good luck mate! |

You'll normally get a salvage quote in with the insurance companys assessment. Just take up the option to let them take salvage costs from the payout and the bike is yours.

Naa he has not finished the TSM touch, he still has to spray it matt black then pull the rest of the front fairing off, then push it over a few more times, rag the engine out etc etc, actualy just give it to me and a hammer.

Oh and another thing. Start looking for bikes for sale the same model, year, approximate mileage and pre accident condition and document it all. Obviously look for the most expensive bikes you can. Then should you feel that the figure you have been offered for your bike is too low, you can back up your argument with proof. It has been known to work.
They will look for the cheapest price and offer you that. You look for the most expensive price and ask for that. Generally they will up there offer to somewhere in between. |
