Hey the clutch on my bike feels very lose, has a lot of play in it and it seems there is quite a bit of slack in the clutch before the clutch come tight, does that make sense?
I really concered about this as its a new bike just under 2000 miles, this shouldn't be happening right? Its a new bike.....does anyone know whats wrong wrong and why there is so much play in it? I sort of know of know how to adjust it, but not that confident really doing it by myself, or wheter I have the right tools or not. Any way I passing a suzuki dealership in Fincley so I went into talk with them. I am assuming this a warranty job, but to be honest they weren't very helpful and just want to see the bike. Anyone out there can help or can watch me do it so I don't screw my bike up. As all aways thanks for any help/advice offered. |

Ah, its just bedding in. Now, I dont know about pointies but on my curvy, on the LHS of the bike (stand side) there is a cover I can remove and I can adjust the cable from that end. You can adjust the cable slack at the lever aswell, and I know also you should adjust the push-rod thingy-dooda. Dont worry about it, the clutch is just bed in, thats all

Search on "Clutch Adjustment" by Sid Squid. It'll be fine, probably just needs an teeny bit of slack taken out of it.

The adjustment at the handlebar is jsut a "temporary roadside fix" enabling you to ride home & adjust it correctly.
I adjusted mine on Friday night in Soho under the watchful eye of Rictus, having never done it before but it's dead simple. Buy everyone a coffee on Friday down in Soho & bring your size 8 & size 10 spanners and a screwdriver - we'll guide you through it. |

I'm sure its simple, but I just realy don't know what I'm doing enough to mess about with it. I want to learn, but as I said not too confident I don't want to any damage to the bike, that will be both hard and costly to undo. |

I'd see if it'll adjust on the handlebar adjuster... takes 10 seconds....got to be 1st port of call

If there's just too much slack, use the threaded adjuster and locknut up by the clutch lever. It's really not a problem, a pair of pliers is about as much kit as you'll need. You may find the lock nut has come loose, allowing the adjuster to turn in and introduce the slack in the first place. Give the clutch cable down by the front sprocket a wiggle to check it's not loose for the same reason.

I will have a look at those bits then, see if its something I can do....will the clutch cable be covered by the faring I have a full one on my bike....
