I'm in the process of putting in new fork springs and respraying the fork bottoms as they're looking pretty manky as well as replacing the dust caps as they looked like this...
![]() and just wondered if it's worth doing thew fork sealsd whilst the forks are off the bike? They're not leaking but look like this ![]() what d'ya reckon replace or go with the if it aint broke train of thought?

Well, it's clearly not leaking - wouldn't have that rusty mess in there if it were.
The rust, as I'm sure you know is the retaining circlip, the amount it has rusted certainly suggests the the shroud is knackered and letting water in. FWIW I'd leave it and fit a new shroud.

I figured it was the retaining clip. I've got some new dust seals to go on when ive finished respraying I'll leave the fork seals in the packet then. ![]()

Do you ride through salt marshes on a regular basis by any chance?

My K3 was ridden 26,000 miles through every imaginable type of weather every day for 3 years, so bearing in mind the only thing I need to replace because of corrosion are these dust seals, I don't think it's done bad at all. The forks have a bit of furring on them, but no worse than some pampered summer toys I've seen.

Nuff restpect.
I don't know what my bike looks like at the moment because there's so much s**t coating it. I just hope the ACF 50 is doing the job. |

Id on't they're too bad for a 30k mile bike that's been ridden in all weathers, the forks on my 1st SV were much much worse
