Default Kwak sounding throaty

As you all know i am running my new 6-R in.

Now this morning it sounded sweet. but when i started it this afternoon it sounded to me a bit throty, not rough just a bit more of a bark about it.

When reving and riding it sounds quite throaty and loud, you can hear a deep barking/ rasping from the pipes and a throaty bark from the air box area under the tank.

Now as i am new to IL4's and the Kwak is this anything to worry about or is this how a bike after a few miles should sound and shoul Kwaks sound throaty?? Sounds like it has race cans and air filter on!!

sorry for the stupid questions.

My GSXR did that the more I rode it when running it in the better the induction roar got, which is exactly what the barking and rasping coming from under the tank is.

Nothing to worry about IMHO.

Good to know, thanks.

ok, good to know, it does not sound clanky or anything just quite throaty and raspy. I was just paniking as i always though IL4's were meant to be smooth as silk LOL. It sounds fine on idle, just a nice throb from the tail piece!!

it is nice yes , yust worried me a bit as it was a bit sudden, and i have been carefull to not rag it or go too far above the recomended rev limit. and let it warm up for a couple of min before riding off.

Maybe it's just upset because you haven't changed your avatar yet?

Sometimes stuff like this is programmed into ECU's

Like in the Civic Type R, until you had done 5k the ecu was restricted and the rev limiter set lower.

Maybe the ECU on new kwaks limits the bike for 500miles or something.

Could also just be some of the excess silencer packing being burnt off.

I haven't noticed a throaty sound as such. The valves sound a bit tickey, but I am taking it up for it's first service this weekend and will speak to the engineer then.

Even the slightest sound does send me into a fit of paranoia, but they are just so different to the V-Twin sound that I can't say that I'd be a good judge of it.

How many miles have you done, and what approach are you taking to break it in?
