Looking about there are quite a few options for panniers. Ive got the Oxford Platinum tankbag & tailpack at mo and I'm thinking of getting the matching platinum panniers, however there is a humpback range and the larger version.
Also is it worth getting a rack for touring? Im not taking pillion, and already have tankbag tailpack although to be honest, the tankbag is a bit of a nuisance when its on as its quite bulky and the pointy tank is quite high. Ideas? |

I have a curvy, but they're very similar really in dimensions. i would say the oxford sport panniers are excellent quality, but your avitar looks like you have a high level can (like me). You would probably be best going with the oxord hump back panniers to avoid melting them on the exhaust. they are expandable so if you don't have too much crap in them, they shrink down. I can filter quite happily with mine on if they aren't at full size and not worry about clipping cars.
Not sure what you mean by rack, but if you mean a Renntec sports rack or similar, i have one and they are very handy for securing large or strange shaped parcels to, or even just tying a spare helmet and jacket to if you are going to pick a mate up. I rarely need to use more than a tail pack and the rack for weekends - if you are lookin at camping then I'd say a rack is a must for the tent etc. |

I had oxford sport panniers and a tankbag for France. In one pannier I had a tent and a sleepingbag. And in the other I had all my clothes. The tankbag was virtually empty apart from maps and camera etc. The panniers made a right mess of my paintwork
The next time I'm going abroad I'm not bothering with the camping, so I won't need so much space. So now I have a suzuki topbox which just clips in where the seat cowl goes. There is plenty of room in there for a couple of weeks touring, and you can take a tankbag too. |

You get it from the suzuki website but I can't see it there anymore. You could ask your local dealer though. But I don't think it would work with a givi. I think it has to be the suzuki topbox too

From what I can see the Suzuki topbox is on a Givi fixing.

I have the endurance panniers
Large enough, but hard to attach and move around alot with some weight in them. I built a rack for them to sit on, works great fits in about 5 mins. I can now carry very heavy files of papers around for my wife with no bother at all. Normally I just put a tail pack on (endurance again) expands to fit quite abit of stuff and I don't notice it is there. I've even carried a bag of cement in it (braking was a bit dodgy) If you want to go for panniers I'd go for a rack, but it depends on the weight & milage you're doing |

Rob, you could try fitting the top box like this;

I can recommend the Oxford Sport Panniers...
Call me daft, but using only one bungee cord on each side around the pillion pegs, they are stable at 135+ mph! (On a track of course officer...) ![]() Very little movement when going over bumpy roads too. |

My SV1000 loaded with humpbacks - more than enough room for a couple of nights stopover for me and Mrs Matt, without having to expand them
