Default there is none in the showroom

Just had the bright idea to phone the showroom before me and a friend set off to go and look at bikes. I asked if they had the naked SV650 in the showroom. The what? No we haven't got that one at the moment, just the faired one. Do you know when you get the new 08 models in. Hopefully next month. So on the ball these people, blimey.

When I spoke to the honda dealer earlier this week, they already have a launch night planned for 21 Feb for the new models.

Don't understand it.

Do they have a used bike section? Maybe they'd have one there?

I wasn't impressed with my dealer either-ended up going 90 miles away to get a better deal and better service.

To be perfectly honest, I have never heard much good said about any dealer in Scotland.

A few years ago I was seeing a girl from Larkhall (pretty rough town that), she always bought her bikes down south and had them serviced down here too. She reckoned it was cheaper and less hassle to ride 150 - 200 miles on a Friday morning and stay at a friend's house overnight to ride home Saturday, than put up with the bad service and extortionate costs Scottish dealers charged. Whenever she went looking for a new bike she found Scottish dealers offered next to nothing in px and wouldn't budge on new prices for a cash sale.

Ah but this is all part of a cunning plan. The SV to be phaesd out later this year and so shrewd dealers begin to stockpile stock unbeknown to the public. Then when SV fans come rushing as the bike will soon no longer be available,a suitable killing will be made.

Remember where you read it first.

Well I sat on one this morning and I was well impressed. It looks good and it wasn't too high, I never thought I could ride a bike with such a high seat, feet not fat on floor but it feels as light as a scooter that I can't see that to be a problem. Left foot is flat on floor when i tilt it to the left (traffic light situation). It felt so incredibly light couldn't believe it. It was an 08 model in anthracite colour (not as good as black). So why the other dealer didn't even know when the new ones were coming in I have no idea. Liked it a lot. Can't stand the idea of having to let go of my harley so might look at a second hand SV and have 2 bikes for a while to make up my mind. Still need to go and sit on street triple (again) and wouldn't mind trying the ducati monster altho don't fancy a few things to do with Ducatis and don't like the smaller tank. An ER-6 doesn't look as good.

Lucky the Ducati Monster owner will be along soon to tell you why he has the most inappropriate posting name ever.

I've never seen the attraction or fascination with Harleys, not even when I was a young impressionable teenager. They were always lardy and slow, and lacked good design and taste - all of this was confirmed when I first got to ride one, and reconfirmed every time I rode any others. All I could ever say that was good about them is that the paint on the bodywork is stunning for a production motorcycle, that's it.

When you buy a Harley, you buy a modern day antique that devalues. You pay 10,000 quid to the dealer, 2 grand of that buys the bike, the other 8 grand buys you into a lifestyle.

Yay! Thought you'd like it. I couldn't believe the weight of it either, so light, and easy to ride. I sat on a couple of Ducatis, but the Monster was more of a sporty position than the sv, surprisingly enough. I also veered away from them as they don't have a fab reputation, and was scared about using it in the cold and it letting me down.

I went to Dumfires to get my sv, they did the best deal and were the most helpful. Cupar suzuki and Perth weren't interested.

I never saw a new pointy SV650 naked before I bought mine. I saw the 1000cc, a few curvies and read and looked at a load of stuff on the net beforehand.

I suppose I took a gamble but it was the right one

You have your views. I'm not interested in them. As far as I can see from having been on this lovely forum for a few days no-one else is. Why keep slagging them off?
