Had a bizzarre problem this morning, unlike previous carb freezing type problems in the cold weather.
Normally bike decides to cut out on one pot when throttle is twisted, which I understand is due to quickness of your cold air causing a freezing effect. This morning my bike started ok, revved ok but only seemed to want to tick over on 1 cylinder. Just put a new battery in, so that shouldn't be causing any issues. Wondered if anyone else had this sort of problem? Should I be checking my carb balancing? Or whether it's worth richening up the air/fuel mix with the air/fuel screw (bike running a BMC Race filter). First thought, if you're sure it's not icing carbs, is a sticking choke.

Another common fault...
If it's running on a single plug only, has water got inside the front plug, and is the drain hole blocked? Blast clean with WD40 & see how she runs. |

Shouldn't be a sticking choke, but it could be I suppose. Choke on front carb WAS sticking, but freed it up and gave it a bit of a rub down with the old emery and it seems to be working well now. I can check that though anyway.
Don't think it's the front plug lark either to be honest, as I said it runs well at all revs other than tickover it seems which I wouldn't expect if it had water in front plug. |
