Ok ladies and gents i've searched the forum but struggled to find the answer.
Does anyone know how to fit the right oxford hot grip? Under the standard grip on my SV there is a plastic sleeve with grooves in etc but the hot grips are smooth and just dont look like they will fit properly. Has any one fitted them and do I have the right ones? Cheers in advance, the bike is in bits in my yard so I'm hoping to sort this very soon. |

fitted some Oxford hot grips only last weekend. On the clutch side you need to take the grip of and clean the glue off the aluminium bar - I used a thin screwdriver and a little WD40 spray between the bar & grip and worked my way around the bar & with the WD40 it came off easy. On the throttle side I did much the same to remove the grip from the plastic throttle tube. Make sure you do a test dry fit before applying any glue (super glue is supplied with the Oxford grips).

I used the guide on here that Independentphoto did and it was invaluable. Have to say it was a fiddly job - and a sturdy stanley knife is needed to trim the inner and outer plastic bits on the throttle slider before the grip will fit properly.
I managed to get my grips off intact which I think is worth doing. |

Ok chaps,
Cheers for all the info. They are now fitted and I must say get very hot even on the lowest setting. I decided to trim the throttle slider with a hacksaw and a knife. It was a bit nerve racking but I managed in the end!! I also had to use spacers to get the weights back on the bars without any sticking throttle ![]() So now I have nice warm hands!! I wired the grips directly to the battery as I'm not sure where the switched supply is. I think that should be fine as it takes a few seconds to turn the grips on and so shouldn't accidently happen! |

You have to trim off that little lip, and rub down the little ridges. I didnt take off the leftmost lip (where the original grip held onto) incase I ever wanted to refit grips; this ment I had to use a few washers on the bar end so it wouldnt pinch up against the throttle side grip when done up tight.

It's the orange wire coming out of the fusebox. Wire into this asap, or one day you'll leave them on overnight, come to a bike with a flat battery and wish you'd done it properly in the first place
