Default Dead bike is deaaad- new bike?

Hi, if anyone remembers I was having a bit of trouble with my cam chain tensioners. Anyways, I didn't want to **** it up so got the local garage to pick it up and take a look. They got back to me today saying that the bike was basically bu66ered and would require either a new engine or a complete rebuilt. They said they thought the timing chain or something similar was gone, and as such engine would not turn over, significant damage to it etc. So he wanted ?300 to even start the work.

Having bought the bike as a bargain for ?1000, I figured it's time to call it quits, as a ?3-600 bill is not really what I need. So I think I'll be selling the wheels, carbs, bars, airbox, forks, battery, top yoke, various cables (if I can), and then the frame/swingarm if anyone will have it. Expect that on the for sale section soon, going to take it all apart, clean and photograph everything first.

So, this takes me to my next point. I worked out that I can get a new (well, used) bike in April, with a ?1400 deposit and can afford about ?140 a month on finance. Which works out as a budget of between ?5000 and ?5700.

I was looking at some bikes, this list might seem a bit random but hey:

Triumph Daytona 675 (because I love them a lot)
CBR600 (main problem is restriction to 33bhp, not as mid-rangey as the triumph etc)
or something like a Buell XB12 Lightning Long
or a Buell Ulysses (because it's a buell with a nice touring screen).

I reckon I could get any of them bikes for about 5-5500 with a nice warranty OTR. What do people think? Feel free to suggest other bikes.

Sorry about the length!

As a non runner, there's only a front plastic panel but everything on it works great except for, obviously the block, I'd be asking about £500 for it.

I don't think that was me... no! I'm usually on a 50-mile a day commute, only been this past week it hasn't worked.

I may be interested, but...

How do you mean "there's only a front plastic panel"?

And where abouts are you?

Basically my two fairing panels LH and RH are cracked/scuffed and basically buggered. So I've just got a cut-down front fairing holding the lights/clocks on. Looks like crap. I was planning on streetfightering it so, that's why. I still have the panels somewhere, I also have the screen. Also no front indicators, I still have the connectors though. I'm down in SE Kent, in Canterbury.

Looking at your sig, you have the plastics already!
