....... and i dont mean whilst manoeuvring a particularly tricky set of curves on an unfamiliar country road.
i mean, by accidentally kicking it off its side stand, whilst in the shed. luckily, i was on the left side of the bike, so i was jammed up against the inside of the shed & the bike never touched down - very nearly though. quite embarrasing, but no damage done to the bike, so not all bad. at least now i know that if i do ever have to pick it up i will be able to. I knocked mine over on top of myself in the garage once, pulled it off the sidestand with a breaker bar and got squashed underneath it for 5 minutes before I got out. But don't tell anyone.

Don't worry
A couple of weeks ago following a mate meeting mates at the pub I had never been to. So we get cut up in traffic and I am in catch up mode down the country lanes. I start gunning it and see his bike amongst the tables of a pub I am passing. Hit brakes hard and look for car park. over to the right. so trying to brake slow down and turn. is not good. I held it. But guy saw my face as the bike was on my lap ran over, pulled it up and said something like Eh lah. you need to practice more like. Which I think is something scouse for:- It isn't wise to try to turn into a car park after you have gone past it. However to make my day. At the table sat a one legged sulking biker. Why he was one legged is another, but sad story. sulking because he had just come out of hospital that day, after being knocked off his new blade, having the good leg, hip, and pelvis smashed. and just been to see the wreckage of his blade with 20 miles on the clock, before not being seen by a 66 year old woman who drove into his one good leg. So don't worry, there are worse things happen at sea. So my mother used to tell me. (Just don't join the navy)

Wouldn't have happened if you'd had a Harley.

My girlfriend has just bought a absolutely immaculate SV, so what does she go and do the first day of riding it? Nearly drop it! We were both stationary, I jumped off my bike to have a chat with her, her bike was still running. We have a chat, then she goes to get off the bike (and this is where our respective stories and points of view differ) and she just touches the gear lever while she gets off the bike with the stand down.
So naturally the bike goes into gear but stalls, tipping it over to the right hand side (im on the left). We both grab it but she's an ickle person so doesn't have the strength or weight to hold it up so I'm there holding the seat and top yoke from the wrong side of the bike trying to get some grip and the things slowly tipping over ![]() ![]() She maintains that I touched the gear lever while talking to her - I never! ![]() |

Heppens to all of us. I almost over balanced while sat on my Hairnet trying to push it out of the garage. I performed this one legged jumping excercise whilst still sat on the bike. This was in full view of my wife who was close to collapsing with laughter. I didn't drop it but ever since my right thigh muscle is a lot bigger than that right one.

My dad (who had had ridden for years in the past, but took a brake from riding) bought a brand new DL650 V-Strom the same day that I got mine.
The shop delivered the bikes, and he got no more then 15 metres moving to towards the garage, and dropped it going over the hump into the driveway! (New tyres... bad slope...) Luckily, it was slow speed, and only the indicator broke - but it happens to the best of people! |

dont sweat it
I was leaning over my bike cleaning a bit i just noticed...and accidently pushed it off the side stand. Didnt leave the bike in gear, and it rolllllled forward. I didnt realise until it was a bit too late, and was able to gently lay it down. Then scream for maria to help me pick it up ![]() Slightly bent gear lever, bit of a graze on the R&G, but still works. Hurrah! Means I neeeed some shiny new footpegs now....dosnt it ![]() Matt |
