Default How do you know what job is right for you?

Not a trick question, but a serious one .. I basically am at a point in my life where I fancy a career change.

Problem is I don’t have a clue what I would rather do ..

How/what methods can I use to decide what I need to be looking at?

Start at the other end, make a list of the jobs you dont want to do and then once you've sorted that out, everything else then is an opportunity...

I am of the opinion that I'll never have a career. Which is okay as I don't need one. As long as the bills are paid and I can keep some bikes on the road I'll do almost any job.

I'm trying to find one that:

* Let's me ride on sunny days.
* Surrounds me with beautiful women
* Pay's me a king's ransom
* Asks nothing of me

But to be serious, I'm with Hooligan Dan. Just want to pay the bills.

Maybe a very boring consideration, but pretty crucial, is how much money do you need to make?

I was in a very fortunate position when I was able to take voluntary redundancy and change the course of my career to a much less stressful route.

If something crops up where I need some cash, I do a few months contract work to pay for it. Otherwise I do what I enjoy but which doesn't pay particularly well. Quality of life vs. standard of living.

That is the situation I have the opportunity to potentially put myself in ... but what is it that I'd enjoy? How do I know?

Should I consider this an oportunity to move forward/make more money and pocket the redudency, or to take the eassy road like you!?!?

Out of interest Blue, what do you do now and why are you fed up with it? Might be a good place to start from coming up with ideas ...........

Sad to say Im at the point in me life where I just turn up, do the job and take the money, but what do you really want to do ? you must have some idea I would have thought, trouble is the older you get the more baggage you attain, what I mean is , some years ago I wanted to go into nursing as a psychiatrich nurse (spl?)but couldt afford to throw a well paid job in to train, whatever you do, dont leave it too late mate, good luck with it.
