Spraying parts.

Going to spray the chain adjusters and brake mount on the thou.

I want the finished product to be black but not glossy.

Question is what primer and paint would anyone recommend?

Chassis Black epoxy paint, sprayed from slightly too far away, gives a nice satin finish- if you spray a proper wet top coat it's glossy but if it air dries a little it takes the shine off.

That's it. No doubt there are loads of other paints that will do just as well, I think Halfords do a satin black wheel paint which would probably do the job... I tend to stick with what I know though. It might take you a couple of tries to get a good result, since basically what you're doing here is deliberately spraying badly

is it worth using a primer and a clear coat afterwards?

I never have, with that stuff, I think it'd need a primer for aluminium but it sticks well to steel in my experience, if the surface is clean. Clear coat would probably make it glossy.

Hey, VHT do both a matt and satin epoxy black spray can- that'd make more sense than doing it my way really.

Just did my pillion peg hangars, just used a few coats of el-cheapo satin black, holts I think it was.

This is after adjusting the RHS one with an angle grinder to make it work with the high level can.

Looks alright, can't see it taking long to rub through though where it touches boots.
