Default Bike pictured on the homepage?

Hey all. This is my first post here, but I've been trying to find out which model and any modifications that have been done to the bike on the homepage at sv650.org - Could anyone give me any information on which model that is, and if any modifications have been done, what? I Googled around looking for any that looked like it but couldn't find anything real similar - I'm guessing it's custom paint, and a modified seat? I'm looking at getting an sv650 and really like the way that one looks, I'd really appreciate any information you guys could give me.

Thanks!

Oooh, I'm really crap at the bike identification game, but first guess, it looks to me like a resprayed curvey frame (ie. a pre '03) - I'm pretty sure those frames were originally silver only. And the engine looks like a curvy model too, given lack of a low mounted oil rad. The rest is anyone's guess, I'm pretty certain the forks are transplanted, would take a wild guess at them being hoiked off a gixxer. The tail, and seat are all non standard, even the headlight is different, tho the tank looks standard (albeit benificiary of a spray job). If I had to hazzard a guess for these I'd say off some Duc Monster variety. Exhaust and hangers are also, naturally, aftermarket.

So I'm afraid all I can say with certainty is that it started life as a pre '03 curvy model and then got a severe makeover. Looks very very sweet tho, very nice work

EDIT:

Second thoughts, not so sure about the forks after all, they may be standard. Dunno, the caliper hangers look wrong to me. Not sure.

EDIT 2:

I'd reckon the early Ducati Monsters were definitely the inspiration for this, tho it still looks damn smart. So, if you're looking for an off the peg looky-likey I'd reckon a second hand Monster would be your best bet. Just make sure you get a warranty Actually get two And don't grumble if SVs beat you in the traffic light grand-prix

Thanks Rhiwbina, and thanks for the tips, Matt. I figured it was a Ducati-inspired one, but I'm planning on an SV650, not a Ducati - too rich for my blood, and I'd prefer my bike to actually run, instead of just look nice and not go anywhere. I just needed to know how that sucker started out so I could do something similar, because I really like the look of it, but I want a Suzuki. :P

Any ideas, anyone, on resources for where I could start looking for parts along those lines, the seat, specifically? And around the tank, the silver - is that just ground off from the original paint back down to the metal, you think, or is it repainted?

Thanks again for the help.

Dont knock monsters. Ducs are fine if you use them. A girl i used to work with had her monstar 620 from new. Other than a new wiring loom 3 weeks in, it covered over 65k with no faults after the new loom. It lived outside and on her boat. It want pretty, but worked none the less.
