Default My latest 'aquisition' - bit low on horsepower though!

As in - 1hp!
Meet 'Lion Star' - otherwise known as Daz, 'The Big Dog' or Cripple.

There is a riding school/rescue centre where I help out. They had a fire early in Feb destroying a barn and some of the stables - HERE - so everyone's out in the fields getting extra muddy.

Daz was the only horse there who isn't part of the centre, but is on livery. Then his 'owner' (and I use the term loosely here) started coming over less and less and now hasn't been seen for nearly two months and he last contact was a text three weeks ago.
It's feckin' snowed since then!

He was originally saved from goign to the meat man, and we think she has some idea he was going to be a dream horse and a real rags to riches story - she saves him and then goes on to be some fantastic showjumping champion or something.
Only she then discovers not only had he got a mild respiratory problem, but he's suffered severe tendon damage to both hind legs, and on the near side it was pretty much severed!
Badly treated and not really a riding prospect...

... so she loses interest (or something, hasn't been in touch to find out )...

... and he drops condition. He's a pure Thoroughbred - so needs a lot of TLC, mental stimulation and care as having to be out 24/7 he'll lose weight at the drop of a hat.

She'd not been to feed him, rug him up when it got colder - nothing. He's turning into a rescue case by default and the owners of the centre have been feeding him instead and using rugs off thier own horses.
But with a lot of kit lost in the fire, it's become a bit of a lottery at times to see who gets what. Espescially as Daz is a shade over 17 hh (5'8 1/2" at the shoulder to the uninitiated) so such a big lad there is little available that fits him.

As a couple of cripples we've kinda bonded so he's become my fosterling. At least now he's putting on a bit of weight:

As a single cylinder, single horsepower model goes, it's a bit tall but pulls well in first gear.

You'll be out of luck with that, I dont think givi do a monorack yet to take a topbox. Once again, my ride remains very practicle whilst being fun at the same time.

Although I'm sure Givi can sort something out for you

On topic now; its a beautiful horse. I'm a little wary of horses, they are pretty powerfull but a little jumpy, but in the couple of times I've ridden them I've thouroulgy enjoyed it - theres something pretty awesome about riding a horse.
