Default Engine for pointy SV650

Yes, I put oil in it ... but engine said "nooooooo" and spat it all out over upper subframe.

So I'm after a replacement engine.

Not gonna go down the rebuild route as I've learned my lesson there

If anyone has, or knows of, an SV650 engine (02 >) going for a good price let me know, thanks

Pete

Oh no Pedro!

Is there not a warranty on all the work you've just had done?

What do you do to them?

Or are you using chip-fat for oil?

Yes ... the monkeys at Wyder Honda who rebuilt the original engine very kindly gave me a 3 month warranty ... the rebuild was completed 5 months ago though

Cheers m8 ... I had seen that one, and it looks a good bet, so will contact them and see what the history of the engine is and also why it's priced at 50 notes less than another K3 engine they have but which has more miles on it

I honestly don't believe I can blame myself for this one - which is what makes it all the more frustrating! Been using Silkolene part-synthetic oil in it. Did top it up recently with another different (but still part-synthetic) oil, but can't see that causing it to spit all that oil out

Nope the silkolene semi-synth is by rating spot on for the SV's needs, not your fault.

Where's it spat the oil then and where from? Has it siezed from lack of oil?

Its spat the oil out all over the upper front subframe just under the airbox ... there's oil all over the electric cables and over the rad hose on the LHS of the bike. The bike is currently at mototech's so I can't check anything else or if there is oil anywhere else.

The engine hasn't seized ... I stopped before it got that far ... there's oil in it ... or at least there WAS oil in it ... but just no oil pressure ... the oil pressure light stays on after you start it up and it sounds as rough as a liverpool lass after a night out binge drinking with her mates (sorry to any/all the scouse girls on the forum )

Oil pump or a major oilway if its spat out with some force, or maybe something simple as an oil hose. If the bearings are rumbling due to no oil then its knackered though.

mototech's technical and expert opinion was "your engine is toast" ... so either way, new engine required ... and probably won't know exactly what went wrong until I (or someone else) strips the engine down. At least then I'll know what I can and can't salvage from the old one.

I think you mean Wynker Honda.

Wonder if they cleaned all the swarf when they did the rebuild. Blocked an oilway possibly.

Might still have some comeback you know.
