Didn't go as well as I'd planned
![]() Had the idea this morning of taking a ride up to Liverpool to take some pics of the bike by the Liver buildings, Albert Dock etc. I went through Middlewich and Northwich & I got as far as the M56 in Warrington & had to turn back I was in so much pain ![]() This doesn't bode well for me as I really thought I was on the mend, so I feel quite deflated now. When I got home I had to get my son to put the bike away because I could hardly walk. My confidence is completely shot as well, I rode like a proper grandad & every damp corner I saw I was fighting to try & keep the bike upright ![]() Every dark patch, or piece of debris on the road was scrutinised as I came towards it, so I wasn't concentrating on what was going on further down the road. I am not a happy bunny at all

It'll come back together, dont worry. You've managed to get a ride in, at least thats a start.
I know what you mean about wet and damp roads, we were out yesterday reccie'ing the AR route and it lashed down pretty much all day. I have completely forgotten how to ride and I wasnt relaxed at all. It got better as the day went on, just take your time you'll get back in the swing of it.

Yeah man don't worry about it, noone can hop straight back on a bike after a nasty injury like yours. Just keep a positive mental attitude and it will happen, don't worry.

Yu rode and it was your first time since the off, although you ached and you was wary you had the guts to get back on !!! Well done you.
Sounds like you did a fair few miles and that is a good start. Do it little and often and you will soon start to relax. Your memory bank always feeds of negative experiences and brings the fear factor into it, everytime you have a good ride the fear factor will disappear just that little bit more, its human nature. Keep at it ..... I will need you to take me out when I am back fighting fit, you can be my role model.

These things need time, chin up, just getting back on it is a big step in itself, it's bound to take a bit of getting used to again. Practice makes perfect! (Practice in using the muscles you've not used for a bit again that is, not practice riding as I'm sure you have enough of that

What they said, plus, it was the same for me. OK, I didn't fall off the bike, I fell off my feet, but didn't ride for months after the op. I had a similar "first ride" experience, was almost crying, both with pain and frustration.
![]() Stick at it, or we'll all take the pi$$ non-stop! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

same for me too - I soon got my riding legs back and learnt to ignore the aches and pains.

Cheers people. I have got to keep working at it because it's my only form of transport & working 16 miles from home I think it might be a long walk
![]() Should be funny tomorrow, I'm going to go to the fracture clinic on it, so not doubt I'm going to get a telling off.
