Fitting Paniers

I have a set of Oxford sport paniers. I've test fitted them and with a combination of lots of velcro straps and bungis they seem pretty firm. However they end up with the rear indicators being pretty much confined to a panier formed tunnel. they are still visible from directly behind but mostly disappear when viewed from an angle.

Anyone got any advice on fitting these the best way or should I consider some additional indicators (should be simple enough) when riding a long way with paniers?

To make matters worse I have a tail tidy which brings the indicators further into the bike so may be less of an issue if you still have a chunky back-end.

I have some LED indicators fitted now with a little black box to get them flashing right. If I add some traditional ones in parallel do I retain/remove/or damage the littel black box that make the LED ones work?

I'm going to testfit my oxford pannies soon. Do you fit the strap(s) underneath the (pillion)seat or do you leave them on top?

Any combination of under and over will do.

If all over, remember that if you leave the bike with them on, all it takes is someone to undo any bungees and walk off with them

Although this means you can more easily lift them off to take them with you - so 6 of one half a dozen of the other.

I always think that one under is more secure (with respects to the moving when riding)

I've got a set of the sport panniers with a hamicad fender eliminater and standard indicators and have no problem as they sit just infront of them. Although I guess with the tail tidy it brings it in further and would block it. Can't see it being much of a problem, as anyone from the side should (in theory) see your front indicator too.

Also, with the straps and bungee cords, for quick on/off fitting, as long as you get them to fit snug with the bike at the sides by having the velcro straps fairly tight, you can have them laying on the back, with 1 bungee cord each side (going through the pillion peg hanger bit, one hook on the plastic loop, and one hook on the metal zip loop) and they will stay on with no problem! (Even tested over some very steep bridges at unexpected speeds! )

I do the two straps further back under the seat, and the front one in front on the seat. Fits securely (I haven't had it move in about 12 months or so of using it). Just remmember to protect your paint!!! Unlike me
