Fitted my Hagon Progressive fork springs yesterday (Cheers Peter) and been out for a ride of about60 miles this morning. This is what I thought.
1st off my standard SV had been feeling a bit twitchy, moved around over the white lines & just generally did not inspire any confidence at all. I was blaming the tyres, I blamed the suspension, I also blamed myself thinking that I was just making excuses for my being scared getting back on a bike after my accident. So when I bought these from ozwaldo, I didn't have much to lose, I did say to him that if it didnt make a difference it would be a good selling point. Anyway, back to the road test. This might sound strange, but I actually felt a difference pushing the bike out of the back gate, it just felt stiffer than before. My journey was as below. http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl Only a total of 63 miles, but with every road condition available. Around town the bike felt very stable, even hitting a couple of potholes didn't seem to knock the bike off line, so a winner there. Heading onto the fast A Roads and the bike just felt so composed, it reminded me of my old SV, so that must have had progressive springs fitted. I found that my concentration wasn't worrying about the bike, it was focussed on what was going on on the road, which made it more rewarding. At speeds of 80+ it just felt planted, not wanting to go off line, I just wanted to start hanging off the bike into bends, just to go that little bit faster, but due to my injury I still cant really do it. 2-0 to progressives. Then from Newcastle, thru Alsager to Crewe we hit some back roads. Again the bike never lost any of it's composure, it feels a completely different machine to the one I've been riding for the past few weeks. I can't wait until I am 100% fit, because I really do want to start pushing that little bit harder & I think the bike will do it now. Would I recommend Progressive fork springs? You bet your sweet @rse, it has transformed a bike that felt a little "Squidgy" & loose to something that is a joy to ride. It's the best £42 I've spent on my bike so far.

yes, totally agree, the hagons certainly make Suzy feel planted, along with the hagon shock. Im Indoors rode her the other day, the first time hes ridden her since YC rebuilt her and he was amazed at the difference...his words.....hmmmmmm i could be very silly on this bike now. In fact my riding has started getting a little more pushy...lol

Yes I think me & my SV are going to get along very well from now on. I now realise why I like motorcycling so much.

Oh, should my weight (11St) effect my choice of spring/oil combination?
Thanks ![]() |

I'm 12.5 - 13 stone and I just followed what it said on the box 15w Fork oil with 140mm gap, so no I don't think it will

![]() I am 15st (on a light day) and with full gear on that will add another 10-15 kgs so - so i would say that rider weight will be a factor in this !! I plan to change to Hyperpro of Ohlins Progressive forks - i will stick with 15w oil but which ever spring i choose it will have a higher rate, say a 9 or a 9.5 Nm/M |
