Default So, is it too late to suddenly decide to go to the NW200?

I was planning to, then decided not to, now I'm swithering but it's in a week! And everyone without exception says "Book well ahead". Is it too late? I've got no accomodation, the bike's good to go but other'n that I've got essentially no clue. Sooooo....

1) never been to Ireland, do I need a passport? It seems not even if I go into the Republic, but information's a wee bit contradictory (I'd sooner go into Belfast or Larne)
2) Accomodation... Anyone got a spare space? Obviously accomodation near the triangle's going to be a bit tricky now but luckily, I own a motorbike which can travel great distances faster than even the fastest horse

And, in general, is this now officially a bad idea with it being so last minute?

Cheers folks!

you will struggle for accomodation. there is a campsite as a last resort, but why dont you give the tourist information a call and see if they have any joy finding you accomodation? I,m going over Friday and returning on the Sunday if you fancy meeting up for a beer or two on the Saturday? you dont need a passport, even going to the south.

Passport: http://travelguides.lastminute.com/s...=Passport/Visa

As mentionned, if you're a UK resident, you don't need a passport, even to enter ROI. Take some photo ID with you just in case though, like your driving licence. If border control do stop you, that way you can prove you're British.

Oh no! I was secretly hoping you'd all say "Don't be stupid, it's too late", then I'd be able to write it off Thanks folks! Busasean, if it works out then aye, definately would be up for that.

You don't need any passport to go to Northern Ireland, or even cross into the ROI. I cross into the ROI every week to fill up my artic with cheap 80p per litre white irish diesel. Not even the garda (ROI police) has stopped me yet whilst on NI plates. They are used to seeing hordes of of NI registered trucks with massive diesel tanks crossing into the ROI to get access to cheap fuel. Even the car drivers do it en-masse... Don't blame them when you're sharing a land border with a country full of cheap fuel (ironically transported from Grangemouth).

Just carry your driving licence to prove who you are... and learn to drive in km/h not mph when in the ROI.

You'll me major league struggling to get any accomodation or even a ferry ticket now for the NW200. I can still get you a ticket for the TT'08 if you're interested..... I'm not going this year..

Ferry's actually easy enough, expensive but lots of availability it seems. Accomodation's the tricky bit, I dropped them an email so I'll see what comes back. if I do go over I won't mind being a bit away I think.
