Can anyone direct me to any sites (of relative use) that contain REAL (i.e mostly accurate) descriptions of towns in/around the UK, by the people who live there?

www.upmystreet.co.uk used to have it (I think), but I think it got ...err....abused and removed.

I'm looking for information on towns etc up to 20 miles outside (SW-ish) of Manchester, in the Sale/Altrincham direction.

I too would be interested in this as I 'may' be moving to South East Manchester (Stockport area) in the near future.
(Dependant on tomorrows interview!)

For anyone else remotely interested in finding out a bit more about an area, before moving.....try this:

enter your location (for the sake of a demo, enter E1)

Click the linky that says "birds eye view is available" (apprantly this does not work for some Linux FireFox users...?) I did this with FF on windows....

Clicky on the "N E S W" arrows to spin the aerial view around.

Woo in amazement at how that was done....

Saves a whole bunch of "so, my estate agent friend, is that a massive factory in the background of that garden?"
