Default Brake fluid can you overfill it?

I have filled my res with brake fluid up to the upper level then when I put on the diaphragm the fluid started to overflow but not quite. Surely when the brakes heat up and the fluid heats up it is going to expand and possibly pop the black diaphragm spewing fluid every ware or am I just being paranoid?

Should I remove some fluid?

Yes....remove some fluid to get it to upper level without cap on.

If the pads are not new and depending on how worn they are, you will more than likely also need to take a bit out again, when new pads go in

Pads are brand new so are calipers. I will remove a little.
