Reusign swingarm bearings?
Usually I'd figure on replacing bearings after removal, but I just recently replaced my swingarm with a totally new one which I got very cheap in a dealership clearout... Now, I'm thinking of doing some powdercoating, which means bearings out. With these needle bearings, can I realistically tap them out without hurting them? They're less than 500 miles old, and stupidly expensive to replace. The shock linkage is getting new ones anyway but if I can make these ones do the job I will. Any ideas?

If you're knocking them out, new ones I reckon. Plus if powder coating i normally leave the bearings in and then knock them out later, but that's just me...

They can often be removed if you're suitably careful, especially if you're talking about an aluminium swingarm as a bit of heat really loosens them up.
However you must be really careful as, and I'm sure you've noticed this, the bearing outer race typically has a smaller lip on it's inner end than on the outer, meaning that the area to drift is rather smaller - a damaged bearing is only a slip away. Heat it up - it really makes a big difference, and improvise a puller of some kind if at all possible.

Would a ' penny washer ' held on each end of the s/arm tunnel keep the powder out. ?

Find a contact in the engineering game who can get you bearings cheaper, I'm fortunate enough to have a dad who can obtain my wheel bearings cheap. I don't know what size they are as never opened up my swinging arm, but can't imagine they'd be anything obscure.
