wot do ya mean imaginary.........I did this yr!!!
totted it all up after crossing YCs palm with silver( at a very reasonable rate) powdercoating front and rear subframes £46, Roca belly pan£180, OEM seat cowl(courtesy of dirty dog)£55, Corbin seat£50 (courtesy of northwind), Hagon monoshock £255, Hagon progressive fork springs £55,double bubble screen £30 something off ebay?, front cylinder head £40, bits n bobs like seals, gaskets, engine paint, touch ups, org decals, rear pads, plugs £150ish? etc So there you go.....its what a rebuild costs, but would probably have cost me far more, if I'd have gone to a bike restorer or something!

If it was my road SV, I'd buy several sets of NEW tyres, lots of oil and filters, things like brake pads and other consumerables, petrol, insurance and road tax .... i.e. Sensible stiff that I'd need to keep me on the road for as long as the £1000 would last.
Basically, I think spending £1000 on tarting/chaving up an SV is just a waste of cash!! (even if it was given, its still a waste of that cash), so would spend it as mentioned. If it was my track SV, I'd do similar, but the cash would go on lots of trackday fees, lots of x-race rubber and consumerables .. But if you want me/insist I buy ad-ons, for the track SV, I'd buy a full race system, a BMC race filter and some dyno time. If there was any cash left, I'd buy some new bodywork ![]() ![]() |

wot even if it had been given a hard life for 7 years and was falling to bits? and was your only form of transport, and if you didn't do something about it, even the scrapman wouldn't be paid to take it away? I had to spend that much on mine, as i wasn't prepared to let her rot. Shes a member of the family, and has been since new. I don't think I've wasted the cash i spent on my SV, as now I get to keep her as she should have been all along...with respect. Plus I couldn't afford to have bought something new, so I had her pulled apart and rebuilt......now I have a brand spanking new SV.....and far superior to the new type ones as well!
