Ok

Story so far..... charge my battery up for a couple of days and then all of a sudden the bike will start once but if i turn it off again it wont!! Sounds like the battery......

From all the feedback ive had i was just about to buy a regulator/rectifer for my 99 Curvy when i ring the garage up from where ive bought it...... They said have you checked the battery i said yeh i checked it not plugged in at 13.01 then i checked it pluged in whilst switching the bike on and it went down a little bit but then at 3000 revs it was like 13.2 to 13.3.... the bloke then told me its not the regulator rectifer if thats the case!! as it is taking the charge.... im at a loose end.... the last time this happened i checked the battery before i charged it and it read 11.18.... this was after this happened... What to do is beyond me!!!

Check that the reg/rec isn't over charging the battery. An overcharged battery will loose energy whilst it's sat doing nothing.

Other than that, just sounds like the battery is at the end of it's life.

No worries about the name, I tend to get that rather a lot.

As for the charging circuit, have a search on the forum, it's pretty well covered. Then print the instructions out.

Just spoke to a company and they said to check the reading of the alternator as well because this might not be working!

If it's been charged on a manual charger and only has enough grunt to crank it once then the battery's stuffed. Should have enough grunt to start the bike 5 and more times without charging in between.

Check the charging circuit is working and be sure of it when you have a new battery as I can't see very low voltage being good for the reg-rec
