Hi there people, i,m new to the site, literally just joined
![]() Thaught i,d join as ive just purchased a new sv650s which i pick up on thursday ![]() So my question to you guys is exhaust choice as i,m sure your combined knowledge is better than the bloke at the local bike shop! I,m looking for a reasonably priced exhaust and i want something L O U D!!! i,m not fussed about having to re-programme the ecu as i,d do that no matter what exhaust i got. Also ive seen a few "gp style" stainless exhausts on ebay, does anyone have any experience of these? as there really cheap @ £100 and being stainless im sure they,ll be durable. Sorry to waffle on lol.. so yeah can anyone recomend a good exhaust with good power gains. Also what kind of bhp increases can i expect with a power commander, an end can and a good filter. Thanks in advance for your replies. ![]() |

Also does anyone have any running in tips.... i know that my old cbr600 (2004 model) actually made more power than my mates because i took some dodgy advice and thrashed it straight out of the crate but it made a full 3bhp more than my mates (that he ran in properly) it used more oil than his..but this is to be expected

Full hindle exhaust on an SV has provided good power curves - especially if dyno'd with lambda sensor points on each pipe. The other advantage is that the round hindle cans can be easily repacked when necessary and the exhaust can outers refurbished quite cheaply or replaced completely by someone like Mark Hill at MHP. There are lots of other options and underseat systems can save a lot of exhaust damage in crashes. Typical power with Hindle set up, race filter etc is around 72BHP, less with just an end can and stock headers.

Cool, i dont think i can stretch to a full system at the moment unfortunately....unless something comes up on ebay cheap!
Also the guy at streetbikes said if i was putting a can and a filter on it, not to bother buying a power commander as they have a "yoshi box" in their possesion that can adjust the standard ecu to suit the can and air filter and fill the gaps in the power curve made by emmisions regs. Are there any plus points to having a power commander over letting them adjust the standard ecu??? 72bhp for a full system, i imagine i should see about 67 with just a pipe ecu tinkering and a filter then |

don't bother with a K&N the standard filter flows just fine.
for all the power gain you are going to achieve i wouldn't bother spending mega bucks on a full system. beowulf sell some nice slip ons and sound the mutz nutz. http://beowulf-performance-products.....asp?catid=201 the biggest gain you are going to get with an SV is doing suspension/brake work. |

Am i correct in thinking that some of the gsxr600/750/1000 braking parts will go on the sv? If so which parts? or is it a case of going old school with sinterd pads braided hoses and maybe some calipers off a different bike? (again does anyone know which calipers will fit and offer a gain in performance)

as far as i know without a bracket no other callipers fit the SV.
the biggest common mod to sort an SV is to swap the rear shock and front end for one off a GSXR. this turns a good bike into a great bike. |

do you happen to know if the shock off a gsxr will go straight on? (as my brother in-law has a k6 gixxer thou and he has a nitron shock, so he has the standard one knocking around somewhere
