Got both tyres changed yesterday at JHS Racing in Keynsham, Bristol.
Coming back from work today and heard a funny noise while riding it, carried on, then it felt a bit wierd I could feel it through the bars so I stopped the bike and looked at the front wheel, all the bolts that hold the calipers onto the brackets were very loose (standing proud by a about 5mm) and the arm that goes from the left caliper to the fork had completley lost the bolt and the caliper was moving around then started locking the wheel up as I was pushing it (got about half a mile) so it's a good job I got off the bike before it happened with me on it. At that point I called into a pub and got some cable ties to try and bodge it for the next mile home but they were too big to go through the holes so ended up taking the left caliper off and cable tying it to the out side of the wheel / fork and rode home about 10-15 mph. Got to give it all the once over tomorrow then off to Fowlers in the morning to get the bolt(s) needed then off to JHS to see what they say

loosened the bolts to make getting the wheel off easier and forgot to tighten them perhaps? i'd be livid personally, it could have thrown you off mid corner under an oncoming vehicle, scary...

Only ever hear good things about them in the past. Hope they aren't starting to go downhill, was planning on visiting them soon!

You've got to take the calipers off to get the wheel off, so they've definately been all the way out.

Very shabby to say the least...someone was looking after you
![]() Once(looong time ago) had a lucky escape after my mate who was a mechanic left my caliper bolts finger tight on my XR250 Motad. messing about pulling wheelies and stoppies ![]() Then time to head home. Not far from a set of lights and I felt something hit my shin and didn't think much of it. Light changing to red, hit brakes and all hell broke lose haha......brakes bit for a split second then nothing. As luck would have it, there was just a big enough gap to go inbetween stopped vehicles and no cars coming across. Inspected bike and found a caliper bolts missing ![]() Realised/occurred to me that the stuff that hit by leg was one of the caliper bolts flying off. Went back and seached for it and was amazed to find it ![]() Err yeah, we get lucky sometimes. Ben |

that is very worrying. every job in any workshop should be inspected by a responsible person, supervisor. sounds like a breakdown in policy.
you'll soon find out if their a reputable company when you go back and discover how they deal with your complaint. i'm one for giving people the benefit of the doubt, but only once mind. |
