Off to china town tonight with BBC and har mate form up north. He's playing, or at least his company are. We are off to chinatown, so wondering if any of you lovely people can recommend a nice eatery of the oriental genre?
Been to Gerards Place, and Won Keis. Thanks in advance |

DONT go to any of the big looking ones is my advice. I have no idea of its name but just before you get into chinatown proper there is a 2 story place that looks really small from outside and isnt anything pretty to look at.
BUT it has mainly chinese peeps in there the whole time so the food must be decent, right? Thats always my main aim when trying to fina a chinese...lots of chinese faces eating there then it must be good ![]() HTH

The Tokyo Diner across from that is also good. Best food in that area is actually Japanese @ Misato, which is down from The Crispy Duck too - good value, tasty large portions (and the option to doggy bag any leftovers). Basically avoid the main street that is Chinatown, although I have eaten in a few of them and none were bad, average was about the best, apart from The Friendly Inn, which while being an average place for food, is fun - the woman that runs the place is a nut-case - would get on well with Verna ![]() One other option would be the CCK place (cant remember its proper name) that does Dim Sum as well as A la Carte, but can be pricy. My top tip would be Misato - its not all raw fish ![]()

I know this is a late entry, but China City - it's in a courtyard off Lisle Street - is used by the Chinese Embassy to entertain visitors, so it can't be bad. I've always eaten very well there and it's no more expensive than any of the others.

It was great. Both the ones you recommended Dave had air conditioning issues and it was a tad warm so ended up in the Royal Garden i think it was. It was ok. The staff were a bit indifferent but the food was vely nice, and service was quick.
Will make notes of the other for future visits. Thank you alllllll |
