Default Springs

Now I've managed to get a second shock for Jax's Duke and the spring is looking a little tatty, so I was thinking about getting it re-painted. But as you can imagine it will need removing, now I know its been done before as the pervious owner did it. So what do I need to get this done with out the spring flying off and probably trying to kill me.
If its in good nick I might swap it with the one on the duke now, if its something that can be done.
Oh and anyone know a good place where I can get the shock serviced/gas, maybe they will sort the spring for me too. But its nice to do these things yourself.
