Is it Worth It ?

Probably not ... is the answer; the question !!!!

Should you display your dissatisfaction at drivers ****-headed decisions.... ??

Last night some nonce ran a red light on a RDB as i joined it (so he was coming from my RHS) causing me break as he nearly took the front of my bike off !!! Pulling along side him in the lane next to him and (in my best Cilla Black voice) surprise surprise .... he was bloody texting !!!!

My lasting glare caused him to react with a perfunctory "Bird" Being flipped....

So i let him know how he might want to relieve himself with a certain retaliatory hand gesture !!

And then all hell broke loose .....

We were both about to join the M4 @ J5 where he managed to get in front of me on the slip road, and then made it very clear that he was not going to let me pass !!!

To say that his driving deteriorated was something of an understatement - he was driving looking backwards at me gesticulating and making gun shapes with his fingers pretending to shoot me and swerving all over the carriage way in the process. On more than one occasion he nearly hit the side a passing truck ... passing truck you say - well yes - at this point we are doing about 30 mph - on the M4 - in rush hour ???? - this guy was REALLY Narced !!!!!

I attempted a few passes but this clearly was not going to be allowed by said ****-head, and the swerves he made to display this intent were enough to make me believe there was some conviction in his actions - had it not been for the fact that he was on a motorway i am pretty certain he would have stopped dead in front me.

Needless to say this shameful display carried on to J6 - where he proceeded to shout at me from the Exit Slip road - I'm pretty sure he wasn't offering an apology - but cant quite be certain - my bike turns out 102dB @ 5k RPM and i was wearing ear plugs !!! Cupping my hand to my helmeted, ear-plugged ear caused him only to shout louder, swerve more and nearly crash into the car in front of him that was at the tail end of the Exit Slip-Road.... !!!

It also prompted a new gesticulation - he licked his hand and ran it down the side of his face a few times between the finger-shooting gesture and shouting his apologies .... ok obscenities.

If anyone knows what this hand-licking and face-stoking gesture means please share (as i am clearly not "street" enough - living in Da Staines would, i thought, have been enough, clearly not) - I suppose one possibility is that he split some of his Farleys' Rusks down the side of his face - I swear he didn't look more that 15 !!

Well needless to say if he had been serious about any of it I very much doubt that i would be sat here now venting my spleen.

The fact I am able to do this I am thankful for - as it could have been so much worse !!

The vulnerabilities of riding a bike have never been more acutely displayed to me - and if someone intends to cause to harm - it is really very VERY easy for them to do so ....

So ... a big thanks goes out to BigApe for a calming Cigarette & some wise words (which have lent themselves to the title of this thread) as despite my rather petulant ramblings now - i was quite shaken up at the time !!! Thanks Si

should have followed him stopped and nutted him in the face as he got out the car, i am sure (correct me if i am wrong) a helmet is stronger than nose cartalidge??

then as he is trying to stop the flow of blood a few quick punches to the face with Kevlar armoured gloves would have cracked the cheek bone, finally a few well aimed kicks to the ribs would have cracked a few. I am sure he might not have wanted to argue with a biker again, oh and before you left should have tourched his car!

i LIKE the torching of the car idea - i do have his number plate and contacts in the Po.......erm ..... think i'll stop there !!!! LOL

I always try to stay out of it. I won't claim I've never gesticulated madly at a driver but when they're acting like rabbid loonies I try to stay as far from their 1.5 ton metal box as physically possible. This is including taking a different route so I don't go to my house in case they are that unstable that they come back and throw a rock at it later. Turn the other cheek, tomorrow they'll still be unstable, but at least you won't be in hospital. Care in the community works.....

Sometimes its just not worth it. Sometimes I still have to remember I havent learnt this lesson properly

If you can its best to stay back and try and keep calm, not always difficult when the moron has nearly tipped you off and then adrenalin is flowing. But I'm getting better at it now than I was.

If you have his plate then report it to the police. The next person that comes across him might not be as lucky as you were...

nothing annoys me more than people using phones while driving!!

i guess its not worth it. they have a car, you have shins at bumper height!

i just like to think that they will be using their phone at a roundabout or junction and dont see the Eddie Stobart coming stright for them!!

as for the gun signs and hand/face licking...not a clue! haha sounds odd

If you see them on a phone, stop next to them, tap on the window, when they open it get the phone throw it in the bush ride off!!

or ride past, grad the wing mirror and ride off with it! might take some strength to rip it off though...

just filter past in traffic and take his mirror off "jobs a good'un" make u feel loads better.
