Angry A tale of woe and suspension

Hi all,
I have a tale of woe to tell you all, and too see if anyone else has had similar so we can share our pain.
I was getting some weird and unnerving bouncing on my bike, so i decided to do a suspension overhaul.
Took the advice from some of the guys in the forum and fitted a 636 shock to the back (which went fine), and decided to also change the oil in the front forks & clean up some of the corrosion on them too.

I was following the Haynes guide to replace the oil, and at the point where it says turn the forks upside down and pump the stanchion to get the last of the oil, it locked at the bottom of its travel.
I tried everything to pull it out of the fork slider, but it wouldn't work. So i had to undo the damper rod bolt and strip down the whole fork leg.
It turns out that the damper rod seat has become stuck in the stanchion.
I blame the Haynes for not warning me not to pump too vigorously!

So then I got a socket that was the same size as the top of the damper rod seat, attached it to a breaker bar, pushed it down the stanchon and then tried to wack it out. That just mashed up the top of the damper rod seat (as its made of plastic).
I still cant get the f****** out so now i'm going to have to drill it out (carefully with my dremmel) and buy a new damper rod seat.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a better way to fix it?
Thanks,

Charlie
Oh yeah, I have a SV650SY (2001) curvy.

Common for them to stick and well documented on this forum, a good sharp tug is usually all that is required to release them

if I understand right what you talking and you actually broke plastic piece inside fork you will need whole new fork tube.
