Cool Brighton and surrounding area....

I was thinking today I was in the ocean how much I miss that I spent 5 weeks in Mexico about 18 months ago, on the beech everyday, I would watch the sunrise in the morning it was an awesome sight, one I will never forget. I have picture of this at home.

So I though why not move down to the coast, its no too far from London, how much more can a house down there cost I would give up being a city rat easily for a more peaceful form of living I find being around water calming, which is a good thing for me, I tend to be a bit hyper!

So whats the reality of doing this? Of course its not Mexico ect, but I think the quaility of life would be better, I have lived in quite a few places by ocean in the UK and loved it, I just wonder what the long term would be like?

Any thoughts? I know I can make that work with my current job.....I am thinking out loud here.

Do it! You know it makes sense!
I live in the 7 Dials area, my flat is actually in Hove, but nearer to Brighton station. It has a lovely village feel with fab restaurants and local shops and just a 10 min walk from the centre. House prices are expensive, but do seem to be dropping.
If you PM me your addy I will pop a copy of 'Latest Homes / Latest 7' in the post for you. It is a great free mag with all the houses and flats in all the estate agents and would help you get a feel of prices.
The roads around here are great, and the other half visit the bike meet at Bury Hill near Arundel quite often...

Oh, and we have the Speed Trials in September which is amazing to watch.
We try spend all our other free time at the beach and the tans are coming on nicely despite the rain.
I love living here and couldn't imagine ever leaving.

Pedant mode on
Brighton isnt by an Ocean, not even a Sea,its by the English Channel, which as the French keep telling us,is just a ditch.
Yours pedantically.

Having lived just up the road from Brighton I always thanked my lucky stars I didn't live there. There are nice bits spat around, I almost bought a house along the road there on the top of Telscombe cliffs. Dont consider Brighton because its beside the sea, consider Brighton because You'd like to live in Brighton. If you want to live by the sea, south coast anyway, for my money go to Somerset / Dorset and look around the Jurassic coast, Lyme Regis kinda way.

Edit: just noticed you want to be in reach of London. Forget Somerset then!

.. am I wrong in thinking that actually buying a property in Brighton isnt as cheep as you might think it to be.. ok obviously your going to get a bit more for your money then London but I didnt think it really worked out if you took commuting into work everyday into consideration??

Get a houseboat on the Thames.........much cheaper way of being surrounded by water and living a peaceful life out of town.

Works for me
