Hey All,
I'm in the process of buying a new SV and had a question which I'd hope someone here would be able to answer, rather then me bugging the dealer! Firstly, does a new SV come with any security features such as alarm or immobiliser? Secondly, if not how do people rate the system offered by suzuki? http://www.suzuki-gb.co.uk/accessori...on_road&search[range]=on_sv&search[model]=650&search[year]=undefined&search[keyword]=&offset=0 Is there something comparable with protection yet cheaper? Thanks |

Suzuki's only come with one form of security as standard, a steering lock. The next important thing is an owner with common sense.
The Meta alarms are good, I'm personally not a fan of alarms as most of them are more trouble than good. A good chain lock and a solid point to bolt it to are the best option. Have a good think, when was the last time anybody took any real notice of a car or bike alarm when walking past? I disabled a friends alarm in the town centre a few years back when it wouldn't allow the bike to start, no questions and no comments were made. Worrying considering he was still at work in the office and I was by myself. |

Thanks for the reply Dangerous Dave.
Now I just need to work out how much my insurance will lower if I invest in an alarm. I'm doubting it will drop it 300 nicker! ![]() |

i personally hate alarms! the fact that my bike has one on annoys me but if they do lower insurance then thats gotta be a plus point.

An alarm and immobiliser only lowered my insurance by 35 quid on the SV650 I bought at the beginning of the year, took me around ten minutes to disable all the wiring and be able to start the bike again.
The other bikes in my life have never had an alarm fitted. |

When I bought my SV last year, having an alarm fitted, lowered my insurance premium by more than the cost of the alarm.
I'd say get some quotes with and without an alarm and see what difference it makes. |
