Default Recommend me a dealer - Merseyside/West Lancs

...for a service in the NW (nr. Merseyside/West Lancs).

BEFORE you all start telling me to buy some oil etc and do it myself, a) I'm far too lazy, b) I'll **** something up and have to pay to fix it and c) I need a stamp to keep the warranty up.

So, it'll be the 4k service (that is right for a K8 isn't it?), what am I looking to pay? What will they do over and above the oil/basic checks?

I am currently toying with taking it back to the place I bought it, although I wasn't impressed with the 1st service when I told them the horn wasn't working when the bike got hot and they said it was fine.....15 mins into the journey home it wouldn't work.

So any recommendations?

They're not "stealerships" they are motorcycle dealers. They are providing you with a service, which you require as you do not wish to undertake the work yourself. You wouldn't work for free, they have overheads to cover, and their staff would stop turning up if they weren't being paid decent money. Ahem, none the less try to find a decent one that'll do a good job.

To stop the horn fading out, try bending it away from the radiator a bit, if it's too close it gets hot and then don't work.

Good luck finding a decent place near you

Thanks Jambo...who do you work for lol?

Was tongue in cheek with the 'stealership', but tbh am concerned at shelling out big money for labour rates/parts etc if all they're going to do is the oil and a few checks, so really I'm after someone who has good experience with a local dealership that they can recommend.

P.S. I did try bending the stock horn, but since fitted a Stebel Nautilus so the stock horn is kind of a moot point now anyway

I work for a charity in central London as an IT bod. I've never charged to work on a motorcycle and done all my own work on my bike for several years now. I started off being clueless, but if you take stuff slow and listen to advice it's amazing how much things stop being a mystery.

Best of luck

The only problem with servicing the bike yourself when under the warranty period is that your warranty is void if you don't stick (roughly) to the service schedule, backed up by a stamp from a dealership. This ****es me off because i have to shell out £179 for them to change the oil and make sure the chain and the cables are tight enough

Not quite Merseyside, but RD5 in Warrington is amazing. Dirt-cheap for what they do, and if they give you a quote, they stick to it, no matter how long it takes.

Got my brakes completely overhauled by them two months back for £60 labour plus parts, bike was in there for a good 8 hours having everything polished up to a mirror shine.

Best part is that they usually take photos so you can see just what they've done, too.

Thanks mate, the bike was from Marriotts in Birkenhead, which is about as far away from me as Warrington.

Are they are Suzuki dealer?

P.S. Thanks to the kind mod who fixed the title, I was going to ask for that but you beat me to it!

They're not even a dealer. It's a small bike clothing shop with a self-employed mechanic running in the back room. Top quality stuff, and you can get 10% off anything in store just by signing up for a loyalty card (which has no requirements). Unsure if they can stamp bits and bobs with not being an actual dealer, but I'll ask tomorrow - going in there to pick up my (very delayed) Beowulf
