Roads around brighouse

Ok folks ive got a mate comming up from cambridge in a week or so and i would like to take him out for some really good rides around where i live.

Can anyone recomend any good routes? Im thinking across to hebden bridge for one run but any others?

you can go up past Rishworth school and turn up the next right hand road, takes you up a very nice little road that meets up with the main road to Blackstone edge( or woteva its called) you could go up towards Keighley and take the turn for Howarth, that then goes down Oxenhope to Hebden, either way get down Todmorden to BigDs........

or you could go up to Nont Sarahs, but the road is a bit devlish up there and i haven't been up there for a while so I'd have to have a peep myself before recommending that.....my its in my other halves playground....but then hes a nutter on two wheels

when i used to live in mirfield, if i had 2 hours spare I'd blast up that way - no one around, stunning scenery and a real chance to switch off & get lost. proper good.

There's also some great roads if you head out through Emley towards Cannon Hall. The road between Cannon Hall and the Dunkirk is particularly good. Also if you keep heading South through Penistone there is the Strines and Snake Pass.

If you're heading North there's a good road between Haworth and Colne.

Go on the road from Nont Sarahs up past the Buckstones car park and you then have the choice straight on and round the bends and down the hill to Denshaw twisty and wild. At the strange Cross roads in Denshaw do a hard left back through Delph at the next cross roads go straight accross though Dobcross. At the roundabout go right and through Uppermill after the village come to a left junction and at the bottom turn left. Through the little village to the roundabout and then turn left. Come up the hill past Dove Stones Res and take the nice bendy road right up on the moors again and crak on towards Holmfirth. Brilliant run when it is not too windy - bad cross winds on the moors sometimes. I do it regularly as I live about 5 minutes ride from the Non Sarahs road.

In fact now I got the bike MOT'd I might just do it this weekend weather (and small boy) permitting

i'll have to join you sometime matey, I usually went through delph and then turned left back into huddersfield since that was the only way I knew.

might be a bit tied up this weekend but defo give me a pm if you're out and about sometime soon
