Default Z1000

Why do I keep looking at them and thinking funny thoughts about them.
Is it finally time to change bike...

its weird...I get that when I look at the VRaptor. But I still wouldn't part with the SV.
I get funny thoughts when I see my mates 1977 Z1000 too...but thats only cause its yellow and it belongs to a burd whos hard as nails, shes much better built than me and knows the machine well. I know in reality i couldn't ride it properly.
But the Raptor...mmm nice light and small but oooo so big

ha ha. The bikes are supposed to be nice. Only problem is similar to many middle weight bikes. Suspesnion is cheap and poorly setup. Engine should be nice though (for an IL4...)

Nice to look at but ultimately it doens't live upto expectations. Engine is okay but is a little lacking in go at the bottom end and aslo has a really low rev range so I was always bouncing off the limiter. in fact it felt just that, limited! Handling is where my main bugbear was, front end far too soft and rear felt vague. You have to muscle this bike around but at anything beyond a ton the bars start to waggle in your hands. I would not buy another unless the suspension had been sorted and it had a Power Commander or a supercharger! There are much better litre nakeds out there IMO. The NEW Zed is supposed to be much more of a beast low down but tops out at a pathetic 140. Bah!

Dont bother with the 1000, get the 750 and spend the saved money on suspension.

More then welcome to have a try of my 750 sometime Grinchy-boy.

it is a heavy bike which dont help 230KG dry! But most of what you mention there is just BAD suspension setup. My Falco was similar because the idiot who had it before me had buggered the suspension settings, though I think my standard suspenion is a littl better than the Z1000... still with the right waggling it should be nice to ride! Now ive played with it man its like a new bike! ofcourse upgrading the suspension will make it even better.

Id say Mr Kiss has the right of it. Get the 750 and sort the suspenders!
