Proof of no claims

OK, here's the thing...

I sold my SV last year to buy a car, and got rid of all the paperwork.

Now, I can't remember who my policy was with and I'm thinking of getting another bike!

Any idea how I can find out? I don't want to lose my two years NCB for lack of proof.

If you can't remember who you were insured with, and don't have the renewal (which shows the no-claims) then you're up the proverbial creek. Sorry.

Try phoning a few diff brokers and see if they have your details on file?

I've always wondered about this because for the last five years or so I've never actually been asked for proof of no claims and never provided it, given that I'm now on 10+ years no claims on the car and 2+ on the bike (they expire by the way, don't have a bike for a year and you have to start from scratch) it seems odd that no one seems to ask.

I've just assumed it's all on some big brother database somewhere. Worryingly, as it indicates my subconscience acceptance of Big Brother, it didn't even dawn on me that this implied insurance companies, the FBI, and McDonalds were all sharing (or selling) my personal data.

Thats not strictly true, they actually expire after 2 years of having not insured a vehicle.

But yeah your pretty screwed.
