wierd headlight question - SV650.org

my 00 naked curvy headlight says 'Alite H4 12v 100/80w' on the bulb mount and has a blue bulb with a silver top in it. also there is a mini bulb towards the bottom of the reflector. has the previous owner installed some dodgey set-up or something alike?? ps - ive no idea about lighting. drove in the pitch dark for the first time on this bike yesterday and could barely see 10 feet in front of me!

the smaller bulb is probably the side light

The high wattage bulbs aren't usually the best idea... I'd go for a 60/55 osram nightbreaker or silverstar.

Or better yet ... go for a 55w HID setup, which I have.

I fitted the complete headlight off a CB500 Honda, it is 100 times better than Suzuki's excuse
