Why do i feel like i am a murderer

Back in March 2008 I got pulled over by the plod for my number plate being to small. It measured 8 1/2" x 6 1/2" when it should have been 9" x 7" and it didn't have the company who made it name and address on.

No probs it was the plate that came on the bike so I didn't know. The copper was fine with me and gave me a producer, which I had to get stamped at a garage to say I have got a legal plate on. This I did and continued onto the cop shop to produce all the relevant documents. Producer, driving licence (both parts), MOT and logbook.

So I get to the cop shop and the PCSO said that she can’t do anything with a producer but the PC who will be back in 5 mins will process it for you. This being my first ever producer I though ok no probs and the PCSO took the producer off me and photo copied all my documents.

Imagine my disbelieve when I wake up this morning and open the mail to find a letter from the court saying I am due in court on the 10th of September for failing to produce and having a defected vehicle.

Inside said letter were a photocopy of my producer stamped by the garage to say it was road legal and a form I need to fill in if I want to plead guilty out of court.

So I see red and storm off to the cop shop and start ranting and raving to the desk sergeant. Seeing I am getting wound up she calls for a pc to have a word with me and find out what’s gone on. He makes a few phone calls and comes back saying they have no record of you producing any documents. My question to him was if I didn't produce any documents they when have the courts sent me the stamped producer back. Off he goes again. When he comes back he says he will take all my docs off me now (old insurance and MOT as I have had new ones since then) and fill in the form that should have been done the first time. Job done no probs.

However I still have to ring up the court the day before my hearing to see if they still want me to go in.

Why do I have to go through all this stress for some PCSO incompetence?

I left my name number and address with the producer and photocopied documents in the first place so why has no body even rang me since March to say there has been a problem?

Why is the first letter informing me of any problem a court summons?

This country is going to rat S**T. Now i have to book a day off work on the 10th September INCASE I need to go to court. What a joke.

I am going to see a solicitor tomorrow night to see where i stand as the PC said i could recieve 3 points for not producing and 3 points for an illegal reg plate. If this happens i will lose my licence as i am only on the stupid 6 points rule for 2 years.

I really do hate this country at the moment. There are gangs of kids stabbing each other, old people getting mugged and raped and all the police and government want is to prosicute bikers for having a 1/2" to small number plate. GET A GRIP.

Just come back from the Isle of Man and every Manx bake had a small plate and i mean small. one guy even had it stuck to his undertray. GB coppers need to take a lesson from the manx police. THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS AND MORE SERIOUS CRIMES THAN MY NUMBER PLATE!!!!!!

Yes but did your local old bill meet their clear up rate target?Thats the important thig these days,not real crime.
You would make such an easy target to meet so they have done just that.

they did the same kind of thing to me. Took a lot of time on the phone and visits to the station to get it sorted out.

Bunch of useless waste of taxpayer's money.

Ashamed to be one sometimes! It's so easy to do properly, yet so often, it's ****ed up by incompetents who have too much time on their hands.
PCSO's; honestly, a waste of money and uniform.

Why should i accept any point. The copper at the time said, aslong as i got it changed and proven to be changed by the garage stamping the producer. Then i would be ok.

I am going to fight this all the way as i have done F**K all wrong. I didn't even know the plate was illegal. I did produce my documents but i have no proof of either. So I am guilty until proven inncocent.

IIRC a small plate is a fine and a non endorsable offence, i.e you cant get points for it.

I'd go and get legal advice if I were you just so you know where you stand.

Just pity the poor s0d whose house was being burgled whilst the coppers were dealing with your heinous numberplate crime.

IMO, attend court, with legal representation. You've raised the dispute at the station, so hope that they still require you to attend.

When you're there, raise your points, and the fact that you were sent the photocopies that were taken. Agree to the initial offence, as evidenced by the producer stating that you corrected the issue.

When the case is thrown out, start persuing compensation, not only for the day's missed wages, but also stress caused by their incompetance.
