Suzuki sell a a Meta alarm which plugs straight in virtually, it is an official accessory for the Point SV.

If you want a 'proper' CAT1 alarm fitted, £299 is about right...
If you want a cheap do-it-yourself alarm, they can be had on Ebay, I think about £50, I believe Baph (?) has one? I'm guessing you don't get a certificate for the insurance with the Suzuki one there, as you'd fit it yourself (or pay someone to fit it)? So might not be a good deal if you have to spend more for the certificate/live without it? |

Alarms are OK, the worst they can do is annoy you and flatten the battery or take a hissy fit and strand you miles from home. Immobilisers by themselves are a total waste.

Northwind is right, your insurance is cheap enough and if there's no need for an alarm then don't fit one - I hate the bloody things for all the reasons he stated.

I'm a fan of meta alarms. Automatically immobilise and are perhaps a little insensitive but reliable.
Every datatool I've come into contact with has armed while I'm filling the bike up, and then gone off (because you have to press a button to tell it NOT to automatically arm the alarm 30 seconds after ignition turns off). They are oversensitive to the point I've heard one threatening to go off because it was raining. Once it's going off it seems indifferent to the fob telling it to shut up.... Hated the thing. I feel better now.... Jambo
