This is probably a silly question, but hey!
I've got a curvy, unrestricted which is fine as I have a full license (for now, more on that in a second...). The missus is sitting her test this afternoon but on a 125cc, so, assuming she passes of course ![]() Now, I'm up in court a fortnight on Friday for a speeding ticket which is very very likely to strip me of my license for a while (solicitor yesterday reckons that 3 months is pretty much a stick on ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm assuming that restrictors need to be fitted by a garage? Once they've been fitted, how much of a job is it for someone (ala, ME) to remove it should I want to use the bike (if I don't get banned), then re-fit it for her again? If it's a pointy its merely a unit that plugs into the ECU and no problem to attach/unattach. If its a curvy the kit is fitted to the carbs, i.e. more of an issue. Either way I believe you need certificates for restriction and unrestriction.
Best to talk to a dealer imo. Good luck with the court appearance. |

Thanks guys, I've no problem with getting it done properly (in the first instance at least...) to get the certificates etc.
If everything pans out as I'm expecting, it'll remain restricted until about January next year anyway <muffled sobbing...> by which time she'll hopefully have bought herself something of her own. If, theoretically, I DON'T get banned, then if I can remove & refit the washers whenever I want to use the bike then we're laughing. |

I wish people would learn to read round here.
James has already said in the first post that he has a curvy which means an SV 99-02. So post 2 goes on about if a pointy then ECU. Plowsie asks what bike is it etc.

Now now children... It is a Curvy, 2000 model to be precise so it is the carb washers, am I right?
Thanks guys - I'm always amazed and impressed at how helpful folks on here are! |

Yes plowsie love you too. (no public kissing though) James also said his missus was doing her test this afternoon on a 125. So you also ask if she is doing her direct access.
Sorry mate. Not having a dig at you personally. I just seem to be seeing quite a bit of people ignoring the blindingly obvious in my life at present. At least you now appear to be wise to the fact that there is no such legal document as a restriction certificate. Nobody can force you to prove a bike is restricted etc
