Default TL or not tl...

Hi just back from having a go on the tl to say i loved it is putting it mildly!! however posed me with a major dilemma as i sorta want it!! But i also love the chuckability of my sv650 there wasnt any very sharp corners where i went but the tl handled the small ones fine any one got any input of the tl( the s model) on sharp bends.

Thanks Aaron

Oh and how much do you reckon should pay for a 52 plate tl1000s in fairly good nick ( cant remember the mileage was having too much fun was fairly low though)

Has the rear shock been changed, i.e. has the rotary damper been chuckled away? If so they are lovely bikes to ride!

the TL is fine on corners just dont grab a fist full as you exit the bend/island

The later TL`s were remapped to not make it as scary on the back end . The radial damper on the rear shock of earlier models made the bike a bit of a "widow-maker" but it was sorted for later versions , also helps if you are a big guy as the back end seems to behave better . If you are a spindly twig then just be wary of the rear . I like the TL myself and wanted one but the prices are still quite high for second hand bikes , around the £3000 mark for a nice and sorted one .

Watch out for the frames cracking by the rear spring or shock mount. Can't remember which. I know a guy who has taken his steering damper off and in the twisties he is lightening fast. However as Badger says I think it helps he is about 6'3" and bulky.

I noticed that on a couple of corners and other occasions

Its one of the older one's so its not been remapped, also the rear shock has not been touched

There is a guy online who offers a free map for a power comander that sorts out the earlier fuelling issues and agressive back end , it was described as "Perfect" by a lot of people , I still have a hankering for a TL1000-R though and that could be my next bike .
