Asking the .org as this is a tough one.
A good friend of mine has his birthday next week. I'm usually on the mark with gifts for him, but this year is different. He was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour a few weeks ago and, well, he's unlikely to see his next birthday. I'd usually buy him a book or something practical, but he's got pretty much everything he needs. He's fully functionall at th emoment, and is an easy-going, culture-loving middle-class guy (non-biker - you lot would probably think he's a bit of a pansy). I want to get him something special. Any ideas? Money no object. |

Firstly i`m so sorry to hear of your friends diagnosis, so very sad. As you say he`s fully functional at present is there anything on at the theatre that he`d enjoy? A good night out would be a nice memory for you to cherish.
My other suggestion might sound a bit morbid and would depend on whether he`s fully come to terms with his prognosis but one of my younger terminally ill patients recently asked for a digital photo frame and she then uploaded her favourite photo`s which to her represented the happiest moments of her life. She gave this to her partner as a lasting memento. It would depend on whether your friend has somebody "special" in his life or maybe his parents but I know it brought my patients partner a lot of happiness at such a sad time. Good luck |

thanks guys. We have been to the theatre, clasiscal concerts etc quite a bit over the years, and regularly dine out, so it'd be nice to do something different. Oh, and he's single.

How about a shark dive? The only place i know is Blue planet near Ellsmere port(near liverpool) or just one of those once in a lifetime type experience type things, l;ike tank driving, or being driven silly fast round a race track...or hiring him his favourtie car for a day (If he likes that sort of thing)...well you did say money no object.

Single you say?
Not long for this earth you say? Money no object you say? To stop talking like Zoidberg, and to start like Bender Take him to a Theme Park, With hookers! And blackjack! In fact, forget the theme park! Sorry to hear about his situation, cant really add anything beyond a bit a humour, and to echo that an experience rather than a thing is probably best David ps. did I mention Hookers? ![]()
