Hiya LongNeck, here is a link to the thread that i started about the same subject. The guys were very helpful and in the end i decided to stay with the stock tyre size. Hope this link helps.

as DD says why? i think a 180 if anything will make the bike worse as wheels are designed for certain size of tyres etc...

You can fit a 180 section rear if you want to. But the rim size isn't right for a 180 tyre, so it'll be too curved, if you get what I mean (rim width not wide enough). You'll probably suffer some handling woes (heavier steering) and might not ever loose those chicken strips (ego woes)
160 works well, I dont know if a 170 might be a half decent compromise? You could always shove a bandit wheel with a 180 section tyre in there |

180 will fit alright but doesn't look any better and makes the handling go a bit wierd. If you want to do it do it like billy did and put a bigger wheel on too.

Yeah, I've seen SVs with 150s on the rear, never had a chance to ride one but it's interesting. Personally, my bike turns faster than I can turn it anyway so it doesn't make any difference
