Bloody weather forecast. I went to Widnes on Sunday, they predicted 2" of rain. The sun was out & not a cloud in the sky. I went in the car & not on the bike.
I'll be honest I think that Ed & everybody else made the right choice, people wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as the last one & wouldn't have turned up for any future ones

Well guys I wasn't going to comment but this thread has rather flushed it all out and I may as well be honest. I hope you don't mind.

A number of bikes withdrew during the week before.

Then I had 6 withdraw the night before.

That left only a few. I felt it was unfair to the people concerned to drag em so far for such a small meet. Also I didn't think it worth the effort in running it.

I was p*ssed off to be honest.

BUT - and it's a big but - I fully understand the reasons why people withdrew, they were made in good faith. So perhaps it was more disappointment than 'p*ssed-offness'. ANd perhaps I fired from the hip. Sorry.

Whatever - I had a really nice PM and texts from Drew, and from Gid, and from Hovie, and from Wideboy, and from Lily, and from Pete, and from Lissa, and from Steve Stroller. I don't think I've missed anyone out...

So I'm not complaining. Deffo not.

I don't have any bad feelings, I'm going to re-arrange once I get the time (bit manic at the moment), and I regard the matter as closed.

Only - next time it will go ahead, even if we have a hurricane on the day. Okay??

i would like to point out i did not want it cancelled, i said lets wait till the morning........... but i was in the minority

plus we thought it only fair to give a bit of notice, rather than pull out 1 hour before the ride,

thanks ed for the planning, lets hope next time it will go ahead
