Hi all,
Finally part of the clan - and it feels good !! Have had my SV for a month now and although i had a few teething (skyward levers) problems I am loving the bike. Its a K6 in silver/blue with 7k miles and a CCC can. Here is my dialemma though ... I had my heart set on a black one but could not find one close enough for the right price and condition so ended up with the blue silver one! So this is what i propose to do ... (over a period of time) Professional respray to Original SV Pearl Nebular Black (YAY) Including fork lowers and all footpegs etc. OEM belly Pan (with graphics) OEM Hugger OEM Seat cowl Fabbri DB Screen And finally Yoshi TRS Carbon Can My Questions are ... 1) Can a professional paint job into original colours be detrimental? 2) Are the Fabbri screens the best for wind deflection - i am getting pummeled at the moment. 3) I want a carbon can to go with the black bike - is yoshi the best or should i look at Akrapovic - any other carbon? 4) I have read that twins can damage carbon cans - is this true - should i stay clear ? Sorry I know this is a bit of an essay - LOADS OF ENTHUSIASM !!! Any tips greatly appreciated Ride on .... |

Hey welcome to the madhouse! Enjoy your new bike
![]() My thoughts on the respray would be don't - you could buy replacement fairings etc. on ebay & a Bagster tank cover. That may not be cheaper, but doing it right & selling your own you could break even ![]() Or, hopefully someone else will tell you about resprays. Why do you not want aftermarket stuff? some of it looks way better then Suzuki stuff & is far cheaper. Esp belly pan, Poly26 looks way better than Suzuki but OEM seat cowl, yes only £42 2) Yes I do believe Fabbri is the only wind tunnel tested screen. 4) Yes they can, but if you buy a quality one with a lifetime guarantee you'll be fine |

keep an eye out in the stuff for sale section on the.org, people are quite often breaking bikes on there so you could well come across something you want without having to respray your bike, then you've got two sets incase you bin it, or fancy a change, or you could just sell on your old tank and bodywork and recoup some of the cost of buying the replacements. And welcome to the org.

Again, I'd go with what the others have said about the panels, keep an eye out for the right bits over time and you'll be able to sell yours once you've swapped, then there's no question over the quality or colour of the paint used.
Twins have bigger, less even pressure pulses through the exhaust system than an equivalent 4 cylinder machine. Make sure the can has a warranty, and that it can easily be re-packed with wadding and it'll be OK ![]()

I would get the foot pegs powdercoated and not painted, the paint won't last as long with your feet rubbing against them.
Fabbri screens are very good, as are Zero Gravity screens. It doesn't have to be Carbon to be black, you could go for a stain black exhaust from Beowulf (the shape of the Warrior suits the Pointy too). ![]() |

Thanks for all the tips guys - especially Stu, the Poly26 belly pan looks great and i think i may go for that instead !!
As for the spraying - well i am still undecided - trying to buy all the parts individually could take ages (I'm impatient like that !) and a bagster is definitely not for me !Would it really be so bad to have it done by a custom shop that only does bikes and using the correct colour? Or am i better off going a completely different colour like white mabe - thus making the bike different ? As for the cans - thanks Dangerous Dave, the Beowulf does look good but for me personally the Yoshi still has the edge. In the end it will come down to sound and performance? Anyone have a Yoshi or an Akrapovic on an SV - how's the sound compared to Beowulf or the CCC that i currently have? Thanks again guys - this is proving to be a great help !! |

On drive by, 90% of the exhaust will sound the same. It doesn't matter who the manufacturer is, there is no performance gain to be had from a slip-on. |

Cheers Dave
I think i will go for a full system rather that a slip on as i already have a slip on - which system do you have on yours - is it road legal? I want to get something that will get through MOT but that i can take the baffle out and get the rumble i am looking for ! Powdercoating seems to be the way forward for the pegs too - I will arrange that with the painter! |
