Default Gsx-r600 k8?

Had an unexpected windfall this week so am considering buying the above. Going to be using it mainly for shorter 30-100 mile daily life refreshers around Worcestershire/Herefordshire/Warwickshire and a trip to the Alps next summer with my gorgeous Mrs. (she may be reading she'll be riding her SV and as a rule of thumb I normally travel very light.)

The bike reviews well in mags, but before I book a test ride are there any real world owners out there who can give me their views??
Good/Bad points..... it would possibily replace my CBR600F...
Does the engine offer reasonable low to mid-range pull or should I just go for a R750?

Thanks in advance.

John

I've a K5 750, I've ridden a K6 600

the 600 does give reasonable mid range, much more than you'd think, However if you can afford it get the 750, more midrange again, and also it doesnt need quite the stiring of the gearbox to have fun on it.

Though saying that if you like thrashing a bike to get it to go get the 600.

Both are good bikes, if you want more info goto www.gixerjunkies.com

I love my k8 and at the mo there are some great deals to be had. I find it more comfy than the sv and im 6ft and considering the power it's not bad on fuel either I get 130 to the light on average and I don't hang around. Love the sound too not too loud but loud enough to get noticed with a racey tone. I don't find much use for the 3 mode power switch but then it could come in handy for wet weather but it's abit of an over kill on the 600.

Test ride test ride, is the only way your gona know What's right for you. The 600 has more than enough power and fun for the road but the 750 could suit you better.

Cheers Rich.

The 750 is the one to go for if affordable (don't forget about insurance), but the 600 is still a cracking bike.

The modern IL4's have more mid-range than what people think, you still have to scream the engine to get maximum power but there is mid-range torque to play with too. Understandable just not as much as a V-twin. The 600 handling is excellent as it has one of the best road set ups on the market, it isn't knife edge or track orientated like some of its competition but is perfect for most riders on the UK roads.

Build quality, well you have owned an SV so you know all about that already.

If you can afford the 750 and the extra insurance that comes with it then the decision is obvious.....the extra weight is very marginal and the frame is identical so the size is no bigger than the 600 for flickability and handling.

I have never ever heard a bad thing said about the 750, nothing but praise and people saying suzuki got it just right for everything.

If you like using the gearbox like you have to on the SV though, then maybe you should get the 600, barely any slower (bar top end) but you have to work harder to achieve it...so depends what you like.

Doesn't the 750 have the power mode switch, so if you buy the 750 you get the 600 thrown in anyway, so to speak: 2 bikes for the price of one, good times!
