Default Oil question

I just had to put in just over half a litre of oil after about 340 mile trip. I started the bike in the garage and let it idle for ages looking for a drip or signs of leakage but can't see anything, should I be worried?

Did you wait for a while before checking the oil level? The oil level won't read correctly until about 5 mins after the bike has been turned off. If you turn your engine on you'll see the oil appear to drain from the spyglass bit.

If it was full before the trip, and the litre of oil brought it back to the same point, then yes - I'd worry. But I don't know what would be causing it.....

I'm pretty sure it was ok at the start of the journey as I did check it. The engine sounds good, no funny noises, knocks or rattles. Could it be burning it, it was nearly a 6 hour ride.

It could be burning it. Could do with a little more info on your bike. I.e what year, what milleage is it at, when was it last serviced that kinda stuff.

You need to let the engine stand for a few minutes before you check the oil, make sure its not on the sidestand and its on a flat level surface ( apologies if this is teaching granny to suck eggs )

Its an 04 plate k3 pointy with 26k on the clock, I just got it so not sure when the last service was. Going to get it checked over at a dealership on Tuesday. But wanted a little advice before telling them or not. Not wanting them doing the chin rubbing and making up a costly repair for it.
